Gene Family: Proteoglycans

Proteoglycan: Protein containing one or more covalently linked and usually sulfated glycosaminoglycans, (e.g., chondroitin sulfate, dermatan sulfate, heparan sulfate, heparin, keratan sulfate). Glycosaminoglycans are polysaccharides made of repeating disaccharides (usually 40-100 times), which consist of uronic acid (or galactose) and hexosamines. Aggrecan, for example, is the major component in articular cartilage. [Source: UniProt]

Genes contained within subsets

The genes displayed in the gene table that is open by default on this page shows the proteoglycan-encoding genes that are not grouped into further subsets. You can view all genes in the subsets on this page by clicking on the plus sign next to the text "Genes contained within subsets", or you can navigate through to the individual gene family page for each subset.
