Gene Family: Glycosyltransferases

Glycosyltransferase: Enzymes that catalyze the transfer of glycosyl (sugar) residues to an acceptor, both during degradation (cosubstrates= water or inorganic phosphate) and during biosynthesis of polysaccharides, glycoproteins and glycolipids. In biosynthetic glycosyl transfers, the common activated monomeric sugar intermediate is a nucleoside diphosphate sugar. [Source: UniProt. See also GO]

Family contains the following subsets

Comments

The subsets of this group include genes that are predicted to encode glycosyltransferases based on sequence in addition to those that have been experimentally confirmed to encode glycosyltransferases.
