Cadherins: Cadherins are calcium-dependent transmembrane proteins that generally mediate cell-cell adhesion or cell-cell recognition and are characterized by the presence of at least two consecutive extracellular cadherin-specific motifs, called cadherin repeats, with conserved calcium-binding amino acid residues.
